Saint Silouane vécut au Monastère de Saint Pantéléimon de 1896 à son décès en 1938 et l'Archimandrite Sophrony de 1925 à 1939. Par la suite, jusqu'à son départ pour la France en 1947, l'Archimandrite Sophrony vécut dans divers ermitages et skites de la Sainte Montagne.
