2. MONASTÈRE DE SAINT PANTÉLÉIMON AU MONT ATHOS

Saint Silouane vécut au Monastère de Saint Pantéléimon de 1896 à son décès en 1938 et l'Archimandrite Sophrony de 1925 à 1939. Par la suite, jusqu'à son départ pour la France en 1947, l'Archimandrite Sophrony vécut dans divers ermitages et skites de la Sainte Montagne.

L'Archimandrite Sophrony fonda le Monastère de Saint Jean Baptiste en Angleterre en 1959 ; il en fut l'higoumène jusqu'à son décès en 1993.
